Auf die Veröffentlichung von „Das Amt und die Vergangenheit. Deutsche Diplomaten im Dritten Reich und in der Bundesrepublik“ im Oktober 2010 folgte eine ausdauernde, kritische Debatte in den Feuilletons der Republik. Moshe Zimmermann, einer der Autoren und Herausgeber, stellte am Sonntag im Literaturhaus in Kiel das Werk vor und diskutierte mit dem Publikum.
Der Sonntagnachmittag in Kiel war der gelungene Auftakt einer Reihe von Veranstaltungen, auf denen Moshe Zimmermann auf Einladung der Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung im Januar und Februar in ganz Deutschland die Studie zur Vergangenheit des Auswärtigen Amtes vorstellen wird. Nach den jüngsten Kontroversen um das Werk verwunderte es nicht, dass das Literaturhaus bis auf den letzten Platz gefüllt war. Fast hundert Gäste waren gekommen, die konzentriert zuhörten und angeregt diskutierten. Wider Erwarten war die Diskussion jedoch wenig kontrovers. Publikum und Autor blieben sich weitgehend einig.
Moshe Zimmermann ist Historiker und Publizist. Er lehrt als Professor für Neuere Geschichte an der Hebräischen Universität Jerusalem. Zu seinen Forschungsschwerpunkten zählen die Geschichte der deutschen Juden sowie die deutsche Sozialgeschichte des 18. bis 20. Jahrhunderts. In den letzten Jahre erschien von ihm unter anderem „Deutsche gegen Deutsche: Das Schicksal der Juden 1938-1945“ sowie „Die Angst vor dem Frieden: Das israelische Dilemma“. Im vorgestellten Werk war Moshe Zimmermann als Teil der vom Außenministerium im Jahre 2005 eingesetzten Historikerkommission für die Zeit des Auswärtigen Amtes im Nationalsozialismus und hier vor allem während des II. Weltkrieges verantwortlich.
Die unabhängige Historikerkommission
Zur Einsetzung der Kommission kam es, nachdem aktive Diplomaten 2004 gegen einen neuen Nachruferlass des damaligen Außenministers Fischer protestiert hatten. Dieser untersagte die bisherige Praxis, verstorbene Mitarbeiter, die früher der NSDAP angehörten, mit einem Nachruf in der internen Zeitung des Auswärtigen Amtes zu ehren. Aufgabe der Kommission war es, die Rolle des Auswärtigen Amtes während der Zeit des Nationalsozialismus sowie die Frage der personellen Kontinuitäten in der Bundesrepublik zu klären. Moshe Zimmermann äußerte hierzu, dass die von der Kommission herangezogenen Dokumente lange schon ediert und gut zugänglich waren. Auch sei bereits zum Beispiel 1978 Christopher Brownings „The Final Solution and the German Foreign Office: a study of Referat D III of Abteilung Deutschland, 1940–43” erschienen, in dem dieser sich mit der Rolle des Auswärtigen Amtes bei der Ermordung der europäischen Juden befasste. Bezeichnenderweise liegt letztere Studie jedoch erst seit 2010, also nach der Einsetzung der Kommission, auch in deutscher Sprache vor.
Es habe an einer zusammenfassenden Darstellung bisheriger Erkenntnisse sowie einer erschließende Analyse des vorliegenden Quellenmaterials gemangelt. Zudem, so Zimmermann, müsse jede Generation aufs Neue einen Blick in die Vergangenheit werfen, ihre eigenen Schlüsse ziehen und aus der Geschichte lernen. Dieses Lernen aus der Geschichte sieht er darin, mittelst historischer Erfahrung die Bedeutung auch kleiner Entscheidungen und eigener Schritte wahrzunehmen und zu erkennen, wohin diese führen werden. Hierin liege die Bedeutung von „wehret den Anfängen“. In Bezug auf das Auswärtige Amt und die Ergebnisse der Kommission wies er darauf hin, dass auch die gebildeten Eliten, die sich selbst als „anständige Menschen“ betrachteten, nicht davor gefeit waren, Schritt für Schritt den Weg des mörderischen Rassismus zu gehen, der schließlich zu millionenfachem Mord führte.
Das Auswärtige Amt des Dritten Reichs
Erkenntnis der Studie sei, neben der Aufarbeitung bedeutender personeller Kontinuitäten in der Zeit nach 1945, dass die Mitarbeiter des Auswärtigen Amtes in Gesamtbetrachtung aktiv und initiativ an der Verfolgung der Ziele des Nationalsozialismus mitgewirkt hatten. Moshe Zimmermann verwies darauf, dass hierbei nicht von „Verstrickung“ gesprochen werden könne. Denn das Auswärtige Amt sei kein Fremdkörper im Dritten Reich gewesen, sondern Organ des Dritten Reichs und handelte in dessen Auftrag und Interesse. Dies sei insbesondere in der Frage der Endlösung festzustellen. Hier habe das Amt beispielsweise durch Initiativen zur Auswanderung aller europäischen Juden, durch Förderung des Antisemitismus im Ausland sowie durch Teilnahme an der Wannseekonferenz seinen Anteil gehabt.
Der Judenreferent des Auswärtigen Amtes schrieb in einem Strategiepapier von 1938 zur „Judenpolitik als Faktor der Außenpolitik“, dass es um „die Heilung einer Krankheit des Volkskörpers“ durch die „radikale Lösung der Judenfrage“ gehe. Abgezielt werde auf die Auswanderung aller Juden aus dem Reich. Allerdings sei auch damit das Judenproblem für Deutschland nicht gelöst. Wie die „Endlösung der Judenfrage“ für die europäischen Juden schließlich aussah, ist uns heute bekannt. Auf der Krummhügel-Tagung des Auswärtigen Amtes im April 1644 gab man zu Protokoll, dass die Judenfrage zum größten Teil ja schon gelöst sei.
Nennenswerter Widerstand im Amt gegen Rassismus und Massenmord?
Moshe Zimmermann wies immer wieder daraufhin, dass zu differenzieren sei. Die Handlungsweisen der Mitarbeiter des Auswärtigen Amtes seien durchaus unterschiedlich gewesen. So habe beispielsweise der Bevollmächtigte in Athen, auch auf Grund griechischen und italienischen Drucks, die Verfolgung der Juden zurückgestellt, während der Vertreter in Saloniki konsequent gegen die dortigen Juden vorging. Insgesamt könne jedoch nicht von nennenswertem Widerstand gesprochen werden. Zumal Widerstand und Opposition oft schattenreicher ausfielen, als vielfach wahrgenommen. So stellte sich das Amt etwa gegen die Idee der Abschiebung der Juden nach Palästina. Jedoch nicht aus Ablehnung antisemitischer Politikziele, sondern aus Angst vor einem jüdischen Staat als Operationsbasis der Verschwörung des internationalen Judentums.
Die abschließende Diskussion gab dem Autor im Wesentlichen Gelegenheit, seine Thesen näher auszuführen. Das Publikum zeigte sich interessiert und fragte nur hier und da nach, ob es nicht doch etwas mehr Widerstand im Auswärtigen Amt gegeben habe. In Anlehnung wohl auch an einen Kritikpunkt des Historikers Hans Mommsen, nämlich die Konzentration auf die Endlösung der Judenfrage als Maßstab zur Bewertung der Teilhabe an verbrecherischer Politik, wurde auf andere Opfer, wie etwa die polnische Intelligenz hingewiesen. In Antwort hierauf betonte Moshe Zimmermann, dass diese Opfer nicht vergessen seien. Jedoch habe es in der oft verschlungenen Rassenideologie des Dritten Reichs allein für die Juden von Anfang an die klare Ansage gegeben, dass hier für ausnahmslos alle Juden eine „Endlösung“ herbeizuführen sei. Den slawischen Untermenschen sei hingegen stets noch gestattet worden in geringer Zahl als Sklaven und Diener der deutschen Herrenmenschen weiterzuleben. Daher eigne sich der Holocaust als tiefster Punkt des Abgrundes, in den die anständigen Menschen geschritten waren, besonders zur Prüfung des Anteils der gebildeten Eliten des Auswärtigen Amtes an Rassismus, Mord etc. des Dritten Reichs.

US amerikanischer Überwachungsstaat blockiert Verkauf meines Buches in Deutschland!
Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,
Die zensurähnliche Unterdrückung meiner Internetseite passt zum amerikanischen Un-demokratieverständnis, wo der Verkauf von Büchern wie zu Hitlers Zensurzeiten staatlicher Willkür unterliegt, McCarthyism 2011. Warum fordert die ‘literarische’ US Gedankenpolizei nicht gleich das öffentliche Verbrennen meiner Bücher?
Mein in Englisch geschriebenes Enthüllungsbuch ‘University Spy - A True Story‘ hatte ich bis zum 18. Februar 2011, 7:12 MEZ, auf meinem WordPress-Blog universityspy.com als eBuch zum Kauf angeboten.
Dann wurde die Webseite angegriffen und mit Schadprogrammen zerstört.
Wie kam ich dazu, ein Buch (Zusammenfassung siehe unten) über US-amerikanische Spionage an Universitäten zu schreiben? Nach meiner Promotion 1984 an der Uni Freiburg arbeitete ich für zwei Jahre als Gastwissenschaftler an der Stanford Universität in Kalifornien, und lebte danach für weitere 21 Jahre in der Bucht von San Francisco.
Dort lernte ich den Erben und Aufsichtsratsvorsitzenden eines Milliarden-Dollar Konglomerats kennen, für den ich 2001/03 achtzehn Monate als Archivar arbeitete. Sein Unternehmen operiert weltweit als wissenschaftlicher Universitätsdienstleister.
Die Verhaltenswissenschaft lehrt, dass schon kleine Veränderungen im Sexleben eines Mannes große Auswirkungen auf seinen Umgang mit Geheimnissen haben können. Ich bin ein offen schwuler Mann und der Aufsichtsratsvorsitzende ist ein total verklemmter Schwuler, der mir halbnackt auf dem Sofa seine Geheimnisse beichtete. Es stellte sich heraus, dass der ‘wissenschaftliche’ Universitätsdienstleister ein verdeckt operierendes Auftragsunternehmen des amerikanischen Auslandsgeheimdienstes CIA ist. Um an den Rohstoff Wissen billig heranzukommen, spioniert die US Firma weltweit an Universitäten für eine kaltblütige amerikanische Regierung mit größenwahnsinnigen Interessen. Aus meinen Aufzeichnungen seiner Plaudereien ist nach vielen Jahren Arbeit dieses Enthüllungsbuch über ein globales Verbrechen entstanden.

Befitting for a U.S. University Supplier, Paterson Inc. acts as Censor! Mubarak was America‘s $$-dictator in Egypt for 30 years. After this self-administered orgy of shame, the Chief held his juice-less balls in one hand, coughed as if testing for hernia, tried to get his soggy undergarments back on and stumbled on his heels in circles. And that‘s the way I got to sit down with the Chief at his coming-out party. Thanks to all voyeurs peering in on the Chief‘s depthless vulgarity!
Whenever I hear the Name ‘Paterson’ I reach for my Gun! With his pants at half-mast, Chief Paterson wobbled back and forward like a drunken tip-over doll, his jaws loosened by a bottle of whisky. “We are a covert operations contractor for the C.I.A.”. Even loose-tongued C.I.A. contractors typically do not advertise themselves as spies. In vicious violation of student and professor privacy, Paterson Inc. is giving the C.I.A. globally thousands and thousands of prying eyes and ears on intelligentsia‘s scientific studies and experiments. Paterson‘s Special Forces personnel also performs more personal screening techniques on You, which means you are strip-searched for biographic and biometric information like a criminal. The intrusive frisking by American contract spies involves soul-theft and the surveillance of: Your home life, political activities, race, religion, fingerprints, friends, enemies or any failings, sexual preferences or deviations from the norm, travels, bank accounts, pressing needs for money, computer communications, email contents, research activities/ objectives/ and results. These ghastly assaults on privacy and scientific competence entangle You with millions upon millions of innocents in a web of high stakes espionage. “The intelligence we collect flows into a sort of gigantic encyclopedic software in our computers” bragged the Chief. This is where Paterson’s spies pool their in-depth target dossiers. Millions of overseas scientists have the results of their scientific labor snatched away and the spy-harvest is transferred to U.S. humbug factories – I mean, blinkered American universities. Or, God forbid the bloody truths, the C.I.A. dispatches its brawny Kill Teams to hunt, brutalize and murder ‘high-level’ targets at universities. Baby-handed Chief-Judas didn’t kill anyone. Chief-Judas kills with his treachery!
America‘s espionage at Universities; Organized asymmetrical Combat! The combination of intellectual and high-tech deficits is so dangerous for the U.S., it produces a real witch’s brew, in which America fights fiercely on an enormous scale with legions of trained, well financed contract spies, protected by armed private U.S. security guards - against disadvantaged, open-minded, unsuspecting academicians, scattered at universities around the earth. To stop America‘s angst over falling internationally behind and reverse its de-industrialization [50,000 factories were closed just in the past decade], the Chief ‘s private spy agency became the brain and invisible hand for America‘s universities and created a prized black-market for the live-blood of U.S. academia: robbed research results. Leaning on the Chief‘s shaky spy-crutch, America‘s cul-de-sac intellectuals need academic emergency medicine, because America‘s annual high-tech trade deficits reached $61 billions in 2008. To predict the needed performance of U.S. science thieves at overseas universities, let‘s use a common quantitative macroeconomic model. If Paterson‘s spies steal $1 worth of scientific results, let‘s say in Switzerland, it will produce $1.50 worth of high-tech manufacturing stimulus in America. To salvage its crippled advanced technology industry, the U.S. has to steal about $40.000.000.000,00 – You are right: $40 billion worth in high-tech/science from the rest of the world - every year! Paterson’s contract spies steal it one burglary at a time, at YOUR university laboratory or research center!
Whistle-Blowing on vast Conspiracy! In order to stay in business, C.I.A. espionage troopers such as corrupt Paterson Inc. are NOT SUBJECT to America’s Freedom of Information Act! No freedom of information in the so-called ‘land of the free‘, because Americans have to check their freedom at America’s door. Edgar Hoover, wearing a silly cowboy hat, pink feather boa and trench coat, is the world’s largest science thief, stealing every original research-idea and scientific innovation he can find overseas – not to mention thousands of person-years invested. Like spit on academic values and a slap in the face of students and professors, the Paterson spy files are treated as private property by the Chief’s university supplier company. Both the C.I.A. and Paterson Inc. will uphold their secrecy claim over the Paterson Papers similar to the Pentagon Papers, which the U.S. government refuses to declassify. But an outraged academia is ready for answers amidst class cancellations forced by students worldwide to protest the presence of rotten Paterson Inc. on their campus! Are social websites Facebook, Twitter, YouTube going to give young and not-so-young academic protesters the connective muscle to chase U.S. spy Paterson Inc. and its private U.S. security guards off every university on earth? Get Involved!
Betrayal worthy of Judas! That betrayal went so far that Americans were admired for their intelligence – or was it espionage, plain old theft of intellectual property, otherwise known as academic freeloading? America‘s seedy ‘exceptionalism‘ is a.k.a. a double standard for turning stolen ideas into borrowed academic glory at struggling U.S. hinterland universities, who add nothing to science. As a significant espionage personage, the Chief gets a thrill from the collaborative madness between U.S. espionage and U.S. professors. That kind of mobster cronyism between Paterson Inc. and U.S. research-imitators is a perfect match-up with America’s un-democratic ideals - it‘s the new normal from beyond a banana republic. The silence of America‘s university teachers reminds of the ‘code of omertà‘, the pledge not to expose secrets of the science-mafia! Scores (one third is a guess) of American university professors ‘Had to Know’ and are profiteering accomplices in this Ponzi scheme of science fraud. Since the burly men from beastly Paterson.cia tilted - inch by inch - the global academic playing field in favour of U.S. ’hocus-pocus-scientists’, and if this helps also explain America’s unparalleled share of Nobel prizes during that curiously energetic U.S. ’research’ period over the past five decades, synchronized with Paterson’s university espionage history, then so be it!
Putting the Dots together! It’s Morning in America with stunning images of urban decay - no country for young men. The alcoholic Chief had just finished vomiting, suffered from a ferocious hang-over and felt a pathological need for homosexual intercourse. Working part-time in the Chief‘s office was as if visiting a U.S. war-of-aggression zone where sexual degradation, torture and rape flourish. Instead of forcing me to lick the Liberty Bell, or applying thumbscrews, waterboarding or electric shocks to my genitals, my hellish archive duty was interrupted by the Chief’s disgusting demonstrations of affection and while his ungentlemanly hands fondled among my pink boxer-shorts. This is the story of Walt Blair Paterson, whose fictional name has become shorthand for an American era of espionage, cowboy capitalism and deceit around the world.
